The below gives you an idea of how EARS is spending donations on Sombo’s upkeep and medical care:


Sombo’s upkeep including a remuneration for her owner = USD 600 / month - USD 7,200 for the first 12 months

Betadine foot solution USD 23 / container = USD 322 / month - total medical care for the first 12 months inc antibiotics estimated at USD 8000

Fruit from the market for medical training sessions using ‘positive reinforcement/target training’ with fruit as a reward = USD 100 / month

A fluent Khmer / English translator including document translation = USD 520 to date


On top of this we’ve funded:

  1. -14 trucks of sand,

  2. -a cement foot bath

  3. -2 metal foot stools

  4. -scrubbing brushes

  5. -hose pipe

  6. -water barrels

  7. -tarpaulin for extra shade plus bamboo poles

  8. -enlarged the medical care with extra cement coverage

  9. -cement steps to the 2 acre field

  10. -a new trailer to collect the sugarcane and food supplies

  11. -and currently under construction is a 10 mtr x 5 mtr bathing pool costing USD 7000
