Louise Rogerson, founder of EARS, is originally from the UK and has made Hong Kong her home for the last 13 years. She has a lifelong passion for animal welfare and has worked with various animal rescue charities, most recognizably Animals Asia Foundation. She was able to fund such projects through creating Mandarin Orange in 2004, her own clothing label based in Hong Kong. While researching various animal charities she came across an article on Boon Lott’s Elephant Sanctuary (BLES) in Thailand and in April 2010 visited BLES.
Louise fell in love with these magnificent, gentle creatures and also learnt about their misuse and abuse in tourism. She continued her research spending time at numerous elephant projects including Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai and the Elephant Nature Foundation Surin Project.
Louise also visited elephant camps, circuses, hospitals, parks and has assisted with elephant rescues. She was fortunate to meet inspirational people along the way who helped her understand the urgent task to educate the public and improve the lives of the elephant.
Realising many people were unaware of the elephant situation and the existence of elephant sanctuaries in Asia, Louise decided to launch an elephant foundation based in Hong Kong to promote awareness and fundraise.
Thank you for visiting Elephant Asia Rescue and Survival Foundation (EARS).
